Domaine Foillard Morgon Cuveé Corcelette 2012

Nobody needs another review for this wine, but here it is...perhaps there's some novelty in the age.

The Wine:

Pale garnet, slightly hazy with some fine sediment. Medium intensity nose of raspberry, sour cherry, barnyard stank, cooked strawberry and a teensy splash of vanilla bean paste.

Dry, medium+ acid, low powdery but fine tannins, medium bodied, and a medium finish. Fruity fruity fruity with little depth. Blood oranges, musk sweets, and violets gate crash the tart red berry party. Shy cloves, biltong and sandalwood pop in for a bit but they ‘really can’t stay for long’.

Conclusion:

Balance (1) + Length (½) + Intensity (½) + Complexity (1)  = A good wine.

Drink now, but potential for further ageing....surprisingly for its age!

Final thoughts:

This was cool...clear...matter of fact...no bullshit...’I have fruit, I have acid, I know you like it...and I’ll make you look cool while you’re drinking me so you’ll keep buying me year after year’.
