During my search for the perfect wine to open for Chenin Day I knew I wanted an old vine, but also didn’t want to open something that wasn’t quite ready to be consumed. This was suggested to me by Vino Pronto. And dang was she right...again!
Tropical fruits, peach, pear, vanilla, butter and caramel. I’m not the biggest fan of oaked whites, but this was beautifully integrated. Full bodied, creamy, intense and complex - with a satisfyingly long finish. I can only imagine how well this will evolve over the years.
Stellenrust offers one of the most fun experiences. You’re able to pick, stomp and brew your own wine. A year later, after proper barrel ageing, 6 bottles are delivered to you. I mean...is that not a dream for any wino...getting to make your own wine with professional equipment and guidance? Ps. The number 53 on the bottle refers to the age of the vines...very collectible as it changes each year.
