David & Nadia Grenache 2018

Today, International Grenache Day, just might be my favourite international wine day...because it was an excuse to treat myself to this bottle of deliciousness from David and Nadia Sadie.

A perfumed nose of rose florals, strawberries, cherries, raspberries and spice. Juicy with fresh acidity and fine tannins that end in a medium length finish. These are the notes I scribbled down mid tasting a while ago. I’m planning on putting this bottle away for a few years and look forward to comparing it after some bottle age.

Viti + Vini:

The grapes are mostly from the sustainably farmed Paardebosch Farm in the Paardeberg, and blended with organically grown certified grapes from rich clay soils north of Malmesbury. Grenache is perfectly suited to the dry and hot conditions of the Swartland. Left on the skins for 4 weeks pre and during fermentation, 60% whole bunches, punched down once a day, minimal gentle extraction, and then matured in 500l neutral French oak barrels for a year.
